The Nutcracker
Join Edinburgh Ballet Theatre for their magical adaptation of the traditional Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker, suitable for all the family.

It’s Christmas Eve in Victorian Edinburgh, where Clara and her family are holding a party. The party is full of dancing, merriment, and magic brought by the magician Drosselmeyer, who gifts Clara a Nutcracker doll. After the party ends, Clara sneaks downstairs to find her home has been overrun by fearsome rats. Drosselmeyer comes to Clara's aid by bringing Nutcracker doll and other toys to life, but it is Clara who bravely defeats the rats in the end. Grateful for his rescue, the Nutcracker takes Clara to the Land of Snow to meet the Snow Queen. Angels then take Clara on to the Land of Sweets, where the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Nutcracker host a spectacular celebration in her honour.

Praise for
Edinburgh Ballet Theatre
"What comes across...is the sensitivity in which this show has been created. The original choreography by Rachel Clowes, Katy McMillan and Vanessa Smer-Barreto... is perfectly pitched to the technical facility of each dancer. The two or three who could easily take their place in a professional company are given more complex material, those less able are never over-stretched but neither are they left standing at the side. Which means everyone has a chance to shine"
